Job summary

Helm Point Solutions is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to support a government program in the Ft. Meade area. You will design, develop, and maintain secure, large-scale cloud-based Big Data systems and distributed processing workflows.

Qualified candidates have TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, 3+ years in cloud or distributed systems, and Java with OO design; Hadoop ecosystem experience is required to optimize performance and security across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Three+ years as a software engineer on cloud-based or distributed systems.
• Three+ years of Java development and Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the integrity, security, and availability of large-scale cloud-based Big Data systems.
• Implement and optimize distributed processing workflows across the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, MapReduce, Spark, Hive).
• Perform performance analysis, tuning, troubleshooting, and monitoring of cloud and data processing environments.
• Contribute to back-end data processing, analysis, and indexing for high-volume, mission-critical apps.
• Develop and implement policies to ensure security, scalability, and reliability of cloud systems.
• Evaluate and integrate COTS/GOTS and open-source tools into cloud environments.
• Support the software lifecycle from requirements through deployment.

We’re seeking detail-oriented, security-cleared Cloud Software Engineer to support a program in the Ft. Meade area. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, security, and availability of large-scale cloud-based data systems and distributed processing environments.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain the integrity, security, and availability of large-scale cloud-based Big Data systems.


• Implement and optimize distributed processing workflows across the Hadoop ecosystem (e.g., HDFS, MapReduce, Spark, Hive).


• Perform performance analysis, tuning, troubleshooting, and monitoring of cloud and data processing environments.


• Contribute to back-end data processing, analysis, and indexing to support high-volume, mission-critical applications.


• Develop and implement policies and best practices to ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of cloud-based systems.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

• At least three (3) years of hands‑on experience as a software engineer working with cloud-based or distributed systems.


• At least three (3) years of experience developing with Java and applying Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles.
