Job summary

Rate is seeking a Security Engineer in Chicago to drive cloud and infrastructure security initiatives. You will architect and deploy secure cloud environments, implement IaC with Terraform, and integrate security controls across multiple domains including network, EDR, DLP and SIEM.

The role reports to security leadership and collaborates with cross-functional teams to strengthen our security posture. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in security engineering, strong self-direction, and experience

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in security engineering with emphasis on infrastructure security, cloud security, or equivalent
• Strong ability to self-task, manage workload, and communicate progress clearly
• Experience designing, deploying and securing cloud infrastructure and container environments
• Experience evaluating and managing security vendors and tools
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and at least one major cloud platform

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of security projects from objective to completion with minimal oversight
• Design, architect and implement secure infrastructure and security controls across cloud deployments
• Develop and deploy infrastructure as code using Terraform to provision secure cloud environments
• Monitor and respond to security incidents using SIEM and log data
• Collaborate with DevOps, infra, and development teams to integrate security into CI/CD workflows
• Lead security tool evaluations and vendor engagements
