Base pay range : $135,000 - $150,000 per year

Role Overview

Under the leadership of the Senior IT Security Manager, the ([Azure] Cloud) Security Engineer will be responsible for architecture, engineering, implementation, and monitoring of security solutions. This role is essential in protecting the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of systems and data within a dynamic environment. The Security Engineer will develop security standards, policies, and procedures, and be a key part of the IT security team. The position requires technical expertise in designing enterprise security architecture and developing cybersecurity initiatives.

The Security Engineer will focus on installation, design, configuration, and support of cloud, virtual, and physical security systems, including security devices like email filters, DLP, antivirus, malware, logging, and vulnerability management tools. Expertise in UEBA, CASB, sandboxing, and syslog is essential. The role also involves security operations such as threat monitoring and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Senior IT Security Manager on cybersecurity products, services, and standards.
• Review firewall configurations and policies.
• Manage privileged accounts and credentials securely.
• Use Varonis for data monitoring and security.
• Implement data governance and policies with DLP tools.
• Manage Azure Security tools including Defender, Sentinel, and Security Center.
• Design and enforce Azure network security configurations.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies in Azure environments.
• Work with teams to design secure Azure systems and applications.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations like HIPAA and HITECH.
• Support incident response activities and root cause analysis.
• Maintain security, integrity, and availability of cybersecurity products.
• Support network, datacenter, and cloud infrastructure security.
• Coordinate vulnerability remediation with IT teams.
• Serve as a security subject matter expert across domains.
• Provide Tier-3 escalation support for operational issues.
• Maintain technical documentation and security standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in security engineering or related roles.
• Expertise with Firewalls, MFA, DLP, Syslog, Azure Security.
• Deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, healthcare regulations.
• Experience with network security, IAM, PAM, and cloud security tools.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with cloud security, disaster recovery, high availability, backup, and continuity.
• Healthcare security experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of web, mobile, network, cloud, and application security architecture.
• Ability to guide and support other engineers in security practices.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Security certifications are a plus.

Salary : $135K-$150K / year DOE. Up to 8% annual bonus, benefits including 6.5% 401(k) match.

Location : Preferably in / near San Ramon, CA, with hybrid work schedule (2 days / week). Remote options considered, mainly within CA and some other states.
