You will work with ISSO and help implement security controls, ensure compliance with FISMA and NIH policy, and support secure cloud adoption across AWS, GCP, or Azure. The role emphasizes monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and collaboration with enterprise security to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of mission‑critical systems.

Qualifications

• Proven experience securing cloud environments (AWS, GCP or Azure) within FISMA/compliance frameworks.
• Experience applying federal standards (FISMA, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, RMF) to information systems.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Cloud security.
• 5+ years in information security with at least 3 years in cloud security; Linux/Windows endpoints.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to document security concepts clearly.
• Experience in regulated federal environments with governance and cross-team collaboration.
• CISSP (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Responsibilities

• Implement security controls and ensure compliant cloud environments across AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Design and support Cloud security services including IAM, privileged access, vulnerability mgmt, encryption.
• Monitor for security events with SIEM and track remediation with metrics.
• Integrate Splunk, Tenable and other sources for continuous monitoring and compliance visibility.
• Respond to security incidents, perform root-cause analysis and reporting per NIH plan.
• Conduct threat modeling and provide guidance for cloud migrations from on-prem to cloud.
• Automate security checks and explore AI-based tools to improve coverage and efficiency.
• Provide security guidance to developers, operations, and system owners.
