Job summary

Google Cloud Consulting Professional Services seeks a Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Engineer to guide customers adopting Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and architectures. You will provide best practices for secure foundations, automated provisioning, and cloud-ready app designs, helping migrations and modernization.

Collaborate with Product Management to improve Google Cloud products and support customers globally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience in networking, compute infrastructure and cloud solutions in virtualized environments.
• 6 years of experience in project management and technical solution delivery.

Responsibilities

• Propose solution architectures and deploy cloud networking solutions per requirements.
• Design and implement Cloud-based architectures, migrations, and optimizations.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to package best practices and publish assets.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience in networking, compute infrastructure (e.g. servers, databases, firewalls, load balancers) and architecting, developing, or maintaining cloud solutions in virtualized environments.
• 6 years of experience in project management and technical solution delivery.
• Experience coding in one or more general purpose languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C or C++) including data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, as required, for client engagements.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with one or more third-party networking products (e.g., PANW, Fortinet, VMWare Cloud Foundation).
• Experience in scalable networking design, including high availability, redundancy, failover, and load balancing.
• Experience troubleshooting networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTP/S), and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
• Experience in customer-facing migration, including service discovery, assessment, planning, execution, and operations.
• Knowledge of containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Familiarity with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate and key management.

Additionally, you will work closely with Product Management and Product Engineering to drive excellence in Google Cloud products and features. • Propose solution architectures and manage the deployment of cloud networking solutions according to customer requirements and implementation best practices.
• Work with customers to design and implement Cloud based technical architectures, migration approaches, and application optimizations that enable business objectives.
• Work with internal specialists, product, and engineering teams to package approaches, best practices, and lessons learned into thought leadership, methodologies, and published assets.
• Interact with sales, partners, and customer technical stakeholders to manage project scope, priorities, deliverables, risks and issues, and timelines for successful client outcomes.
