Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in Palo Alto seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead cloud platform engineering, shaping technology strategy for AI/ML initiatives. The role focuses on secure, scalable platforms with strong DevEx, telemetry, and automation, collaborating across teams to deliver reliable solutions.

You will drive modern SDLC practices, guide cross-functional efforts, and advance AI-assisted development using state-of-the-art tooling and agent frameworks.

Qualifications

• Formal training or Certification in software engineering concepts with 10+ years of applied experience.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Advanced knowledge of containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, etc.).
• Demonstrated expertise in DevEx (Developer Experience) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Spinnaker, Bitbucket, GitHub).
• Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices, shift-left methodologies, and DevSecOps processes.
• Strong programming skills in Golang or Python, with solid software development practices.
• Proficiency with cloud infrastructure provisioning tools (Terraform, Crossplane).
• Experience with logging and monitoring tools (Splunk, Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus).
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure design, architecture, and migration strategies.
• Experience with AI-assisted coding workflows and prompt engineering for software engineering use cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the cloud engineering team.
• Lead design and development of secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and platform tools.
• Drive adoption of modern DevEx practices and evolve CI/CD tooling to improve delivery speed and quality.
• Align platform strategy and roadmaps with business priorities; lead cross-functional modernization initiatives.
• Evaluate, integrate, and govern tooling to reduce cognitive load and improve developer experience.
• Collaborate with development teams to identify and remove platform bottlenecks.
• Define paved paths and self-service workflows to streamline developer workflows.
• Implement real-time telemetry pipelines and observability for large-scale platforms.
• Champion AI-assisted coding tools and enterprise tooling to boost productivity.
• Contribute to AI agents and MCP integrations for scalable automation.
