CarMax is evolving its cloud platform within CAF Technology, delivering secure, scalable infrastructure for credit and origination systems. The Cloud Engineer II role focuses on automation, CI/CD, and modern cloud concepts to support a reliable customer experience and secure data handling.

The position emphasizes collaboration, experimentation, and agility, with a hybrid work arrangement and a focus on performance, security, and platform modernization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technology field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• 2+ years of scripting or coding experience in one or more languages.
• 2+ years of experience building infrastructure within a cloud platform.
• Build infrastructure, networks, and systems for scalability, resiliency, availability, and recovery via infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with cloud capabilities including storage, secrets management, networking, app services, IAM, VMs, and automated deployments.
• Experience with .NET, .NET Core, C#, and PowerShell.
• Experience building and deploying resilient cloud infrastructure.
• Experience creating CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar.
• Experience supporting Windows or Linux operating systems.
• Attention to detail, problem investigation, and diagnostic skills.
• Passion for reducing manual work through automation.
• Experience with Cosmos DB and MS SQL is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal and external team members to develop capabilities and automation.
• Work with engineers on design, product management, and systems architecture to develop experimental solutions.
• Share ideas and evolve them based on feedback in an agile environment.
• Continuously evolve the platform and its operations using solid engineering practices.
• Stay current on industry trends to improve processes and customer experience.
• Leverage emerging AI technologies to gain efficiencies and speed delivery.
