Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineer for the Cloud Observability Analytics team. The role focuses on building backend infrastructure, developing integration pipelines for trace and error log data, and shaping critical Cloud services.

The position emphasizes scalable systems engineering across Google Cloud technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, define system components, and contribute to reliability and on-call rotations as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
• Experience with distributed processing and large-scale data processing.

Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Develop new features for the OA Integrations pipelines, Cloud Trace, and Cloud Error Reporting products and ensure our tools and products continue to remain in compliance with all Cloud horizontals.
• Collaborate with SRE to ensure we continue to provide our most important feature: reliability. You will also participate in the team's 24x7 production on-call rotation after ramping up on the team.
