Job summary

Ardent is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer to design, support, and optimize secure network connectivity across cloud, hybrid, on-premises, and legacy environments. This is a remote position with emphasis on documentation, automation, and incident response.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of network engineering experience, with strong knowledge of routing, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering, cloud networking, or equivalent.
  • Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure across cloud, hybrid, and on‑premises environments.
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, virtual networks, security groups, and gateways.
  • Experience supporting cloud networking environments (AWS/Azure) and connectivity to legacy/on‑prem infrastructure.
  • Experience monitoring network performance and health using enterprise tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex connectivity issues across apps, infra, gateways, and legacy systems.
  • Experience with change control, incident management, and CAB support.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot authorized network connectivity across cloud, hybrid, on‑premises, and mainframe‑connected environments.
  • Monitor and analyze network health, latency, throughput, availability, and capacity; address risks and coordinate action.
  • Maintain current network diagrams, inventories, configurations, and support procedures in approved repositories and ticketing systems.
  • Investigate and resolve network incidents and service requests; isolate faults and coordinate escalations as needed.
  • Support secure bidirectional connectivity and data synchronization behind the Cloud Service Gateway with least privilege practices.
  • Plan and support approved network changes through government change-control procedures, including validation and CAB support.
  • Prepare monthly reporting inputs on availability, capacity, incidents, and change management.

Position Description

Ardent is seeking aCloud Network Engineer to design, support, and optimize secure network connectivity across cloud, hybrid, on-premises, and legacy environments. The engineer will troubleshoot complex network and integration issues, monitor performance and availability, support approved infrastructure changes, and maintain accurate technical documentation and operational reporting.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Design, implement, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot authorized network connectivity across cloud, hybrid, on-premises, and mainframe-connected environments, including routing, switching, segmentation, DNS, load balancing, security groups, firewalls, virtual networks, and approved gateway services.
  • Monitor and analyze network health, latency, throughput, availability, utilization, packet loss, errors, and integration performance; identify emerging capacity or reliability risks and coordinate preventive or corrective action.
  • Maintain current network diagrams, inventories, address and routing information, configurations, interface dependencies, monitoring thresholds, support procedures, and evidence in Government-approved repositories and ticketing systems.
  • Investigate and resolve network incidents and service requests; isolate faults across application, infrastructure, gateway, cloud-service, and legacy boundaries; restore service when authorized or coordinate timely escalation.
  • Support resilient and secure bidirectional connectivity, data synchronization, and hybrid monitoring behind the Cloud Service Gateway while applying least privilege, separation of duties, and approved configuration standards.
  • Plan and support approved network and integration changes through Government change-control procedures, including impact analysis, testing, implementation evidence, rollback planning, validation, and CAB support.
  • Prepare accurate monthly hybrid integration, connectivity, availability, capacity, incident, and change-management reporting inputs, including SLA performance, breaches, root causes, trends, risks, and corrective actions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in network engineering, cloud networking, infrastructure engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, network segmentation, firewalls, load balancing, virtual networks, security groups, and network gateway technologies.
  • Experience supporting cloud networking environments such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or comparable cloud platforms, including connectivity between cloud and legacy/on-premises infrastructure.
  • Experience monitoring network performance, availability, latency, throughput, utilization, packet loss, and other operational health indicators using enterprise monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex connectivity and integration issues across applications, infrastructure, cloud services, gateways, and legacy systems.
  • Experience supporting network configuration management, change control, incident management, root-cause analysis, and service restoration in production environments.
  • Working knowledge of network security principles, including least privilege, network segmentation, access controls, secure connectivity, and configuration management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain network diagrams, configurations, inventories, technical documentation, operating procedures, and support records.
  • Experience working within formal IT service management and change-management processes, including ticketing systems, implementation planning, testing, rollback procedures, and change advisory board support.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with infrastructure, application, security, cloud, and operations teams.
