Job summary

Honeywell International Inc. seeks a Principal Software Architect to lead cloud-native, connected life safety software platforms.

You will define the architecture, guide IoT/data/API strategy, and partner with product, cybersecurity and operations to deliver scalable, secure solutions. You will report to the Senior Director of Software Engineering and operate in a hybrid model, with relocation support potentially available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, or engineering.
• 12+ years in software engineering with architecture leadership.
• Strong experience designing and scaling cloud-native SaaS platforms.
• Hands-on with Azure, AWS or similar cloud platforms; Azure preferred.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, APIs and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with security, identity management, data protection and cybersecurity best practices.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the architecture roadmap for cloud-based, connected life safety software platforms.
• Lead architecture decisions across SaaS apps, microservices, APIs, IoT connectivity and data pipelines.
• Translate business priorities into scalable technical solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Establish architecture patterns, design principles, reusable components and governance.
• Modernize legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native platforms with reliability improvements.
• Improve observability, uptime, disaster recovery and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity to ensure secure-by-design architecture and data protection.
• Support platform evolution toward AI/GenAI-enabled capabilities and data-driven products.
• Mentor engineers and architects, raising technical standards across the organization.
• Review designs, identify risks, and guide teams toward practical solutions.
• Communicate architecture decisions clearly to executives and stakeholders.
