Job summary

Capgemini America, Inc. seeks a Google Knowledge Catalog Engineer to build and maintain an enterprise data catalog on Google Cloud.

You will ensure metadata quality, semantic richness, and usability for humans and AI agents across BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and other sources. You will curate ownership, sensitivity, lineage, and usage context; develop semantic layers; automate ingestion via Dataplex APIs, Cloud Functions, or Dataform; and partner with governance teams to enforce standards and

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in data engineering, governance, or metadata management.
• Hands-on GCP experience: BigQuery, Knowledge Catalog/Dataplex.
• Strong SQL; Python for automation.
• Familiar with metadata concepts: lineage, classifications, glossaries.
• Understanding of data governance and compliance principles.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain catalog structures in Google Cloud Knowledge Catalog.
• Curate metadata definitions, ownership, sensitivity, and lineage.
• Build semantic layers and taxonomies for natural-language search.
• Automate metadata ingestion and tagging via APIs, Dataplex/Dataform.
• Partner with data teams to enforce catalog standards and policies.
• Support data quality and publish scan results as catalog metadata.
• Monitor catalog health and drive adoption across teams.
• Contribute catalog context to AI/agent use cases.
• Document processes and provide training on catalog usage.
