We seek an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Solution Architect – Azure to lead architecture and technical solutioning for large enterprise cloud transformations. The role covers assessments, migration and modernization strategy, target-state architecture, governance, and delivery of secure, resilient, scalable, and cost-optimized Azure solutions.
NOTE : This is a senior/principal-level Azure Cloud Infrastructure Architect role. The person is not just designing Azure environments—they are expected to assess a large enterprise’s existing infrastructure, create the Azure transformation strategy, design the target architecture, lead migration/modernization, and govern the technical execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud Assessment & Strategy
- Lead enterprise-wide Azure assessments across applications, infrastructure, databases, networks, security, and data centers.
- Define discovery, workload classification, readiness, dependency, complexity, right-sizing, modernization, licensing, security, and compliance analysis.
- Develop cloud adoption strategies, business cases, TCO/ROI, workload priorities, migration waves, executive recommendations, and transformation roadmaps.
- Define end-to-end Azure target architectures and Landing Zones covering subscriptions, identity, networking, security, governance, monitoring, backup/DR, policy, and compliance.
- Architect Azure compute, VMs, storage, networking, AKS, AVS, databases, backup, Site Recovery, and Azure Virtual Desktop services.
- Create secure, highly available, resilient, and scalable reference architectures, principles, patterns, and reusable components.
3. Migration & Modernization
- Lead large-scale data center-to-Azure migration strategy using rehost, replatform, refactor, repurchase, retain, and retire approaches.
- Design migration factories, dependency-led waves, and low-disruption patterns based on business criticality, complexity, and readiness.
- Drive modernization across compute, databases, containers, VMware, storage, backup/DR, networking, security, monitoring, and operations.
- Recommend Azure-native versus IaaS solutions and guide hybrid or multi-cloud architecture where required.
4. Large & Complex Migration Leadership
- Serve as Lead Solution Architect and technical authority for transformations involving thousands of workloads and applications.
- Lead architects and SMEs across workstreams, migration factories, and delivery teams; review and approve high- and low-level designs.
- Resolve technical risks and dependencies, enforce architecture consistency, and advise program leadership on assumptions and mitigation.
- Engage customer CIO/CTO, enterprise architecture, and infrastructure leaders as required.
- Establish Azure standards, design principles, architecture reviews, and technical design authority.
- Ensure alignment with Azure Well-Architected and Cloud Adoption Frameworks, enterprise security, compliance, resilience, DR, and FinOps requirements.
- Maintain architecture decisions, standards, patterns, technology recommendations, and technical-debt modernization roadmaps.
- Automate assessment, migration, and deployment using Infrastructure as Code, Azure DevOps/CI-CD, Terraform/Bicep, Azure Migrate, native automation, and dependency-mapping tools.
- Build reusable patterns, templates, accelerators, and factory-based approaches for high-volume migrations.
7. Security, Resilience & Cost Optimization
- Embed identity, segmentation, security controls, governance, high availability, business continuity, and disaster recovery into Azure designs.
- Apply FinOps, right-sizing, licensing, and consumption optimization with security, finance, and operations guardrails.
- Advise enterprise customers, lead discovery and architecture workshops, and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Present recommendations to senior stakeholders, influence cloud adoption and modernization decisions, and collaborate with Microsoft and technology partners.
9. Team Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, mentor, review, and coach cloud and infrastructure architects and SMEs.
- Define competency standards, build reusable IP and accelerators, and support hiring, certifications, and the architecture community of practice.
