Job summary

CAVA is seeking a Manager of Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps to lead cloud engineers and SREs in building scalable, secure cloud platforms. You will drive architecture, governance, and cost optimization while mentoring a high-performing team across cloud-native tooling and CI/CD pipelines.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional partners, development of KPIs, and continuous improvement of observability and resilience across digital platforms.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years managing Cloud Engineering teams and 5+ years in a Cloud Engineering role.
  • Experience in cloud-based DevOps and managing a mid-size distributed team.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Proficient with IaC tooling such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with monitoring/analytics platforms like Grafana or Datadog.
  • Experience using CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or CircleCI.
  • Strong cross-functional communication with partner teams.
  • Understanding of security, scalability, and reliability in DevOps.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking and software-defined networking.
  • Familiarity with fault-tolerant architectures using regions and AZs.
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect) are a plus.
  • Results driven with reliable follow through.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the cloud platform to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, architect solutions, and ensure successful delivery of cloud projects.
  • Lead cloud engineering team capacity planning and staffing allocation for current and future needs.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing cloud engineering team with development plans.
  • Define measurable KPIs for engineers and track progress.
  • Provide thought leadership on cloud principles, automation, observability, and reliability.
  • Manage cloud platform operational costs and optimize spend.
  • Enforce security practices including threat modeling and vulnerability monitoring.
  • Improve processes and workflows to drive efficiency and quality.
  • Research emerging cloud trends to assess relevance and fit for the org.
  • Manage vendor relationships with cloud providers.

Job description

The Manager of the Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps Teams will play a pivotal role in driving the design, implementation, management and observability of our cloud platforms. This role will lead a team of cloud engineers responsible for building scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions using tools such as infrastructure as code (IaC), container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, cloud services, and other relevant technologies. This role will also lead a team of site reliability engineers responsible for observability of our digital ordering platforms and implementing changes and bugfixes to ensure all platforms are scalable, resilient and performant.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our cloud platform ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, architect solutions, and ensure successful delivery of cloud projects.
  • Responsible for cloud engineering team capacity planning and staffing allocation activities to ensure sufficient staffing for current and future needs.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing cloud engineering team. Establish a comprehensive development plan for each team member, focusing on skill enhancement and career growth.
  • Work with team to define measurable and meaningful KPIs for Engineers to strive to and follow.
  • Provide thought leadership, coach the organization on cloud principles, automation, observability improvements, self-healing, high availability/scalability, and root cause analysis.
  • Responsible for managing cloud platform operational cost, understanding the budget and optimizing the spend to achieve maximum value from Cloud investments.
  • Ensure team follows best practices including threat modeling, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, security monitoring/incident response enablement, to ensure privacy and compliance regulations are followed.
  • Continuously assess and improve processes and workflows to drive efficiency and quality.
  • Leads research emerging application and cloud service trends to determine their relevancy and fit for the organization.
  • Manage vendor relationship with cloud and other providers.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years managing Cloud Engineering team with 5+ years of experience in a Cloud Engineering role, with a proven track record of managing cloud platforms and SRE practices.
  • Experience in cloud-based DevOps and managing a mid-size distributed team.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology.
  • Experience with writing infrastructure as code (IaC) (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.
  • Experience with a unified, real-time monitoring and analytics platform, such as Grafana or Datadog.
  • Experience using a CI/CD tool like GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with multiple partner teams from requirements gathering to roadmap planning to delivery.
  • Understanding of DevOps fundamentals such as security, scalability, and reliability.
  • Ability to design and create cloud-based software defined networking.
  • Familiarity with fault-tolerant infrastructure designs including the use of regions and availability zones.
  • Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or relevant cloud provider certifications are a plus.
  • Results driven with reliable follow through preferred.
  • Eagerness to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Great verbal and written communication skill.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skill.
