Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Cloud Hardware Development Engineer in Cupertino, CA. You will join a program team to design, debug, validate, and optimize cloud server hardware, engaging with internal and external teams to drive product definition and testing across the lifecycle.

You will gain hands-on experience in high-volume manufacturing, with a focus on thermal, mechanical, electrical, and reliability analysis, as well as PCB layout and automated test tools development.

As a Cloud Hardware Development Engineer, you will be part of a program team working alongside Senior Engineers to support the design, debug, validation, and optimization of cloud server hardware. You will be involved in projects from concept through production, gaining exposure to the complete design lifecycle. You will also support engineering builds, gaining hands‑on experience with high-volume manufacturing.

We are looking for hardware engineers across a variety of domain expertise, including:

• Thermal and heat transfer design
• Mechanical design and packaging
• Materials science
• Reliability engineering
• Signal integrity (high-speed digital)
• Power electronics and power delivery
• General board development (PCB/system board design)
• Server system design and integration
• Manufacturing engineering

Key job responsibilities

As a Cloud Hardware Development Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative server products. You will work closely with an internal inter‑disciplinary team and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open, collaborative peer environment.

Basic Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field
