Job summary

Genesee County Human Resources seeks a Systems Engineer to optimize and secure enterprise IT infrastructure. The role focuses on virtualization, server and storage design, implementation and automation to improve stability, security and performance across the organization.

The candidate will lead projects, monitor systems, and participate in disaster recovery planning while adhering to security best practices and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• One year experience managing production servers in a cloud computing environment (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or similar).
• Bachelor's degree + 10 years experience OR Associate degree + 13 years experience in enterprise VMware environments, with CIO-approved certs (MCSE, M365 EA Expert, CompTIA Server+, or VCP-DCV).
• Certifications and trainings are required and may change over time by CIO.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy and troubleshoot enterprise hosts, servers and storage systems.
• Implement security measures and ensure compliance with best practices.
• Patch software, update firmware and review system logs daily.
• Monitor performance and reliability of managed systems.
• Create and maintain configuration and security documentation.
• Provide guidance and support to team members.
