Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a lead cloud engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be working 100% remote and will focus on cloud operations and engineering. The candidate will work as part of an enterprise cloud services team, leading the engineering and operations team and overseeing the deployment of a scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environment. Responsibilities include managing team task priorities, providing technical guidance and solutions for provisioning services and permissions, operational monitoring, and incident response. Broad experience across cloud infrastructure resources is expected.

The candidate responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Leadership Role
• Lead the cloud engineering and operations team for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Manage ServiceNow requests, changes, and Jira tasks related to cloud services provisioning, modification, troubleshooting, and decommissioning.
• Improve cloud team processes using best practices and standards.
• Coordinate with internal teams and peer leads (e.g., OS, database, monitoring teams).
• Communicate effectively with leadership regarding status, issues, risks, and concerns.

• Technical Role
• Provide technical guidance on provisioning new resources and resolving infrastructure issues.
• Monitor systems and manage incidents in cloud environments.
• Manage operations to ensure high availability and performance.
• Evaluate and operationalize cloud services, tools, and technologies.
• Implement and manage IAM policies for access control.
• Monitor cloud health and address issues collaboratively.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 10 years of experience.
• At least 5 years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or others), with emphasis on AWS.
• Experience in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK).
• Preferred 2 years experience with Python or similar scripting languages.
• Experience provisioning and supporting cloud infrastructure as an engineer and team lead.
• Experience with workflow management tools like Jira and ServiceNow.
• Experience with logging and monitoring tools like SolarWinds and Splunk.
• Must hold or obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One or more cloud certifications at the associate level or higher (AWS preferred).
• Experience with a broad range of cloud infrastructure resources.
• Networking experience in cloud environments.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000, depending on experience and other factors.
