Job summary

NorthHill Technology Resources LLC is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support a Federal program in Springfield, VA. This direct-hire role requires an active TS/SCI clearance and experience with cross-domain solutions.

You will join the CORE team, delivering cloud solutions, automating deployments, and maintaining platform services across AWS/OpenShift, with emphasis on security and operational excellence. On-call work is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS serverless components and cloud services.
• Willingness to learn cross-domain services available at NGA.
• Proficient in TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, and Bash.
• Experience integrating services across AWS, GitLab, OpenShift, Nexus and other platforms.
• GitLab CI/CD pipelines for deployment in OpenShift or AWS.
• Strong DevSecOps understanding and secure software processes.
• Familiar with GitLab or other CI tools.
• Knowledge of networks, load balancers, firewalls, and related infra.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve build and deployment processes using CI/CD tools.
• Integrate with enterprise authentication services.
• Improve infrastructure, autoscaling, new services, cost optimization.
• Manage and aggregate server logs; monitor security incidents.
• Monitor system performance and resource usage.
• Apply configuration management; maintain software revisions and patches.
• Enforce security best practices and drive security initiatives.
• Coordinate with A&A teams to maintain security requirements.
• Follow up on engineering tasks and validate completion.
• Participate in SAFe and Scrum development teams.
• On-call support will be required.

NorthHill Technology Resources has a need for aCloud Engineerto support a Federal Program inSpringfield, VA.This is a direct-hire role with our client, a fast-growing Federal Integrator. Experience with Cross-Domain Solutions is strongly desired.An active TS/SCI Clearance is required, will sponsor for CI Polygraph within first year.

Cloud Engineer

In this role, you'll join our Common Operations Release Environment (CORE) team, providing high-quality, cost-effective cloud solutions to our clients. Be part of a dynamic environment where your expertise in cloud operations will drive significant enhancements in the efficiency and effectiveness of our customers’ operations. As a Cloud Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for distributed and managed services automating the installation, configuration and maintenance of platform services.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve existing build and deployment processes using CI/CD tools to automate and optimize service deployments within development, test, and production systems


• Integrate with enterprise authentication services


• Maintain and improve existing infrastructure (build out autoscaling, support new services, optimize for cost efficiencies/authentication/search, etc.)


• Manage and aggregate server logs and monitor for security and system related incidents


• Monitor and analyze system performance, such as server load and resource usage


• Apply configuration management disciplines to maintain software revisions, security patches, hardening, and documentation along with maintaining documentation and ensuring continuity of recurring tasks


• Enforce best practices for security and reliability, and drive security initiatives, like access control and vulnerability testing


• Work with A&A Teams to maintain security requirements for operation of systems


• Follow up on engineering tasks for operational solutions, and validate completion


• Participant in SAFe and Scrum development teams and meetings


• On-call support will be required

Required Skills:

• AWS serverless infrastructure components


• Willing to learn cross-domain services available at NGA


• A working understanding of TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Bash


• Multi-platform integration (connecting processes and services between AWS, GitLab, OpenShift, Nexus, Self Service)


• GitLab CI/CD pipelines, typically centered around deploying or updating applications/services in OpenShift or AWS


• Strong understanding of DevSecOps and software/application development processes


• Understanding of GitLab or other DevSecOps/Continuous Integration tools


• Knowledge of network technologies, common infrastructure components, load balancers, firewalls, virtual and physical infrastructure design
