Job Description:
- The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for working with highly functional development team automating service deployments; optimizing system performance; integrating with enterprise authentication services; establishing/improving system monitoring; maintaining established security protocols; provide customers technical support. The Cloud Engineer will be integrated with an agile environment participating with scrums and other meetings.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with A&A Team to maintain security requirements for operation of systems
- Maintain and improve existing infrastructure (build out autoscaling, support new services, optimize for cost efficiencies/authentication/search, etc)
- Produce detailed documentation
- Maintain System in AWS environment using EC2, S3, Load Balancer, and RDS
- Automate and optimize service deployments
- Delivering a full-stack web application to production; identifying and resolving operational issues in same
- Actively participating in technical requirements-gathering process (i.e. meetings with customers)
- Executing design and implementation of application features, independently / unassisted, with minimal oversight
- Refactoring legacy application code for improved reliability and maintainability
- Mentoring junior developers
- Writing and reading unit tests; understanding code-quality analysis concepts
- Writing and debugging Javascript, Typescript, or closely-related language
- Developing applications backed by a relational database; understanding RDB design concepts
Skills/Qualifications:
Required:
- Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services
- Strong Troubleshooting skills
- Experience in automating tasks using scripted languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Perl
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology
- Familiarity with DevOps development processes and Continuous Integration tools: GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus
- Extensive Typescript or Javascript background
- Angular frontend framework; UI/UX design
- Microservice-based backend architecture; integrating with COTS/FOSS software REST APIs
- Supporting a full-stack application in a PaaS environment
- CI/CD pipeline implementation, ideally with GitLab
- Creating and deploying containerized applications, ideally with Docker
- Designing/implementing container orchestration with Kubernetes
Desired:
- Strong understanding of cloud APIs and interaction with the AWS/CLI
- Experience working with one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, or Java)
- Experience with Go programming language
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Markdown, and portal development
- Database experience with a Postgres backend
- Strong communication skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
