Job summary

The San Francisco Department of Technology is seeking a Cloud Engineer to help lead cloud migration and modernization efforts. You will design and maintain infrastructure using Terraform/OpenTofu, build CI/CD pipelines, and perform production cutovers with guidance as needed.

This role emphasizes modern engineering practices, containerization, automation, and secure, compliant cloud deployments for city systems.

Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or closely related field.
1 year of experience analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing, and/or maintaining system components.
One year substitution or completion of the 1010 Information Systems Trainee Program may substitute for the required degree.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform/OpenTofu within established architectures and standards.
Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for infra and app deployments with automated testing and controlled deployments.
Carry out cloud migration work including network configuration, compute provisioning, and production cutover with senior engineer support.
