Job summary

Bechtel is seeking an Azure cloud engineer to help modernize IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and drive next-generation cloud solutions for government and commercial customers. You will work with engineering teams to deploy Azure apps, ensure security and performance, and contribute across the full software development lifecycle.

The role emphasizes collaboration with analysts, developers, and SMEs, adherence to security guidelines, and the use of AI-enabled cloud services.

Qualifications

• Experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on Azure platforms.
• Understanding of and experience with well-architected frameworks.
• Experience in several areas: CI/CD Pipelines, web architecture, REST APIs, Kubernetes, Docker and serverless technologies.
• Experience with AI including deploying AI infrastructure and networking for APIs.
• Collaborative with multi-disciplinary teams of analysts, developers, and SMEs.
• Deliver high-quality projects with Agile teams.
• Azure certifications are a plus.
• Experience with Azure and AWS Gov is a plus.
• Experience with Terraform, YAML, PowerShell, and Python.
• Knowledge of FedRAMP and CMMC is a bonus.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• Strong problem-solving and time management.
• Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

At Bechtel, cloud computing continues to allow us to modernize and consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation innovation. To continue this transformation, we're seeking an entry-level Microsoft Azure cloud engineer with experience in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of web-based and mobile application projects in the cloud. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of cloud-based tech, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Knowledge of cloud maintenance and advanced industry knowledge is key to keeping us on the cutting edge. From day one, you'll have an impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our IT operations, and an ongoing impact on our overall growth.

Major Responsibilities:

• Work with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for our projects.
• Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
• Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of thoughtful design and security.
• Managing cloud environments in accordance with security guidelines for our company and US government customers.
• Develop and implement technical efforts to design, build, and deploy Azure applications at the direction of application architects and software partners.
• Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for Azure solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
• Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
• Coordinate with other teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, and providing support for cloud applications.
• Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on Azure platforms.
• Understanding of and experience with well-architected frameworks.
• Experience in several of the following areas: CI/CD Pipelines, web architecture, knowledge of web services,REST APIs, kubernetes, docker and other container and serverless technologies.
• Experience with AI including deploying AI infrastructure and networking for APIs.
• Proven ability to be collaborative with multi-disciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, and subject matter experts.
• Successfully deliver high-quality projects while working in teams following Agile frameworks.
• Azure certifications are a plus.
• Experience working with Azure and AWS Gov is a plus.
• Experience with coding languages such as terraform, yaml, powershell, and python.
• Experience working with high-compliance, Government computing security frameworks like FedRAMP and CMMC is a bonus.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills - verbal and written.
