Job summary

The CORE Institute is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design and implement cloud solutions across Azure, M365, AVD, and AWS. You will lead deployments, manage lifecycle, and drive automation using IaC tools.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in cloud-related roles, hands-on Azure and AWS experience, and strong IAM, networking, and security knowledge. Occasional travel and cross-team collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in cloud engineering, systems engineering, or infrastructure roles.
• 3+ years hands-on with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
• 3+ years hands-on with AWS environments and multi-cloud architectures.
• 2+ years with Azure Virtual Desktop or similar VDI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure across Azure, M365, AVD, and AWS.

• Own administration and lifecycle management of cloud services incl. Entra ID and Windows 365 cloud PC's.

Job description

DUTIES

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions across Microsoft Azure (including networking, compute, storage, identity, and security services), Microsoft 365, AVD, and AWS platforms.
• Lead cloud deployment and migration projects with minimal supervision.
• Own administration and lifecycle management of assigned cloud services and platforms, including Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID, and Windows 365 cloud PC's, and AVD host pools, image management, and FSLogix.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions (e.g., ARM, Bicep, Terraform), automation frameworks, and operational tooling, including tools such as Nerdio, CIPP, and Lighthouse.
• Analyze performance, availability, and security metrics across Azure, M365, AVD, and AWS environments and implement improvement initiatives.
• Serve as a technical escalation point for Cloud Engineer I team members.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical coaching and knowledge sharing.
• Recommend architecture enhancements, security improvements, and modernization opportunities across Azure, M365, AVD, and AWS environments.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to engineering standards, governance practices, and platform roadmaps.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years experience in cloud engineering, systems engineering, or infrastructure roles.
• 3+ years hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 platforms.
• 3+ years hands-on experience with AWS environments and multi-cloud architectures.
• 2+ years experience with Azure Virtual Desktop or similar VDI technologies.

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong understanding of identity and access management including Entra ID, Conditional Access, and MFA.
• Experience with networking concepts including VPNs, ExpressRoute, DNS, and firewalls.
• Familiarity with security best practices and compliance frameworks.

KNOWLEDGE

• Microsoft 365 services and administration.
• Azure services including compute, storage, networking, and security.
• Azure Virtual Desktop architecture and optimization.
• AWS core services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC).
• Hybrid infrastructure and identity integrations.
• DevOps orchestration.

SKILLS

• Scripting (PowerShell strongly preferred).
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).
• Troubleshooting complex cloud and hybrid systems.
• Monitoring and performance tuning.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
