Job summary

Torch Technologies is seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and manage cloud and onprem VM provisioning for USSPACECOM J6. You will work with crossfunctional teams to ensure security, scalability, and cost efficiency on AWS/Azure/Google Cloud and more. A TS/SCI-capable candidate with DoD experience is preferred.

The role requires 2+ years in cloud engineering, strong IaC skills (Ansible), and experience with Docker/Kubernetes. Onsite in Colorado Springs, with 10–20% travel.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• 2+ years of related experience
• Secret level DOW clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI
• Experience designing, implementing, and managing cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, or Oracle
• Experience supporting both Windows and Linux environments
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible
• Strong understanding of networking principles, security practices, and cloud architecture patterns
• Experience with containerization/orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with Microsoft Config Manager, Red Hat, Red Hat Satellite, SQL Server, Windows 11, Windows Server OS
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure and onprem VM provisioning.
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and crossfunctional teams to ensure scalability, security, and efficiency.
• Evaluate and recommend cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Oracle).
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Manage and configure cloud resources and Nutanix hypervisor environments (VMs, containers, databases, networking).
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions.
• Troubleshoot incidents, identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize system resources.
• Apply security best practices and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.
• Support automation and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI.
• Document architecture designs, deployment processes, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with development teams to align cloud architecture with application requirements.
