A Brief Overview
The US LBM Engineer – Cloud is a senior technologist that is responsible for providing advanced Azure support for US LBM's 650+ server environment. This person will have key Azure certifications and extensive operational experience managing servers and resources in a growing Azure environment. This will include designing, implementing, migrating, monitoring, and proactively managing cloud infrastructure solutions. The US LBM Engineer – Cloud is a senior technologist that is responsible for providing advanced Azure support for US LBM’s 700+ server environment. The ideal candidate will have key Azure certifications and extensive operational experience managing servers and resources in a growing Azure environment. This will include designing, implementing, migrating, monitoring, and proactively managing cloud infrastructure solutions.
Project Responsibilities
- Plan, Build, Run IaaS and PaaS services: VMs, storage, AVD, App Services, database, backup, DR, and integrations (AIS).
- Use DevOps capabilities to automate resource provisioning and management (PowerShell, Ansible, and Terraform).
- Strategize with project teams, project managers, and various stakeholders for seamless technology integrations.
- Consult on environment designs for resource deployment in US LBM preferred landing zone architecture.
- Participate in legacy environments reviews related to acquisition or migration activities.
- Migrate on-premises servers, files, databases, and applications to Azure cloud environment.
Operational Responsibilities
- Ensure system stability by providing tier 2 / 3 support for cloud infrastructure and applications.
- Implement, monitor and maintain Azure networking such as VNETs, NSGs, VNGs, AGWs, NVAs, SDWAN and ExpressRoute.
- Maintain identity integration with Azure Entra ID, Enterprise Apps, Management Groups, Subscriptions, MFA, SSO, and PIM.
- Monitor cloud infrastructure and optimize for balanced costs and performance.
- Maintain documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, disaster recovery and procedures.
- Support 2000+ employees accessing Azure Virtual Desktop VDI environment using various tools, primarily Nerdio.
- Comply will all policies and standards.
- Participate in on call rotation with other Azure engineers.
- Adheres to company’s commitment to workplace safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Education Qualifications
- Associate degree in computer science or a related field or relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of Azure experience in a large Azure environment.
- Strong knowledge of Azure IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS offerings.
- Windows and Linux administration experience.
- Foundational understanding of Azure networking concepts (VNETs, NSGs, public IPs, and WAN deployment topologies)
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Well-Architected Framework for enterprise landing zone deployments.
- Familiarity with Azure Site Recovery and highly available multi-region environments.
Required
Skills and Abilities
- Certifications: AZ-104
- Deep understanding of current Azure offerings.
- Experience managing hybrid-cloud/multi-cloud environments.
- Experience coordinating with project teams.
- Experience in cloud database services. (Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, etc.)
Preferred
- Any of the following additional certifications: AZ-140, AZ-700, AZ-305, AZ-400
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and concepts on Azure – Azure DevOps, GitLabs, Github, IaC (Terraform), CI/CD.
- Strong networking knowledge (VNETs, firewalls, NVAs, Express Route, UDRs, NSGs, and Virtual WAN/SDWAN technologies).
- Experience managing large-scale Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.
- Experience managing Entra ID, Active Directory.
Additional Requirements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a strong attention to detail.
- Physical demands include sitting for extended periods, standing and walking, bending or stooping, and lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 occasionally.
Travel Requirements
- Remote position with approximately 25% domestic travel.
