Job summary

NetApp is seeking a passionate and experienced Software Development Engineer to contribute to the development of data management solutions across major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, and OCI). You will design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure cloud-native capabilities supporting NetApp’s cloud applications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software development and cloud engineering experience.

About The Role

Join our innovative and dynamic Cloud Engineering team at NetApp, where we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of cloud technology. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Software Development Engineer to contribute to the development of industry-leading data management solutions across major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, and OCI. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and robust operating systems and capabilities that support NetApp’s data management applications in the cloud environment. As part of our Research and Development organization, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, cloud partners, and internal engineering groups to deliver high-quality products that meet market demands and customer requirements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of cloud infrastructure, leveraging your technical expertise to drive innovation and impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software development and cloud engineering.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C/C++ and Python.
• Strong operational knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or OCI).
• Deep understanding of cloud architecture, services, and best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently, set priorities, and drive results with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in developing distributed data management systems, such as NetApp ONTAP or similar platforms.
• Advanced certifications in AWS, GCP, or OCI.
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with cloud monitoring, logging tools, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of NetApp’s existing cloud-based data management solutions, including their architecture, dependencies, and limitations.
• Participate in all phases of the product lifecycle, including design, development, testing, automation, debugging, and customer support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features that enhance product capabilities and performance.
• Handle unstructured tasks, conduct research, and translate vague or undefined requirements into clear, actionable specifications.
• Operate independently, managing priorities and driving results while adhering to project timelines and quality standards.
• Engage in peer-to-peer collaboration, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and improvement.
• Contribute to the development of scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-native applications and platforms.
• Support ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and resolution of impactful customer issues to ensure optimal product performance.
