Job description

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join our Systems and Cloud Operations team. As a Cloud Engineer at WebPT, you will play a pivotal role in managing cloud configurations, optimizing infrastructure performance and cost efficiency, and implementing robust cloud security practices across AWS, Azure, and other platforms. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of enterprise cloud architecture and operations.

You will collaborate closely with teams across Cloud Operations, Database Administration, DevOps, Development, and InfoSec, serving as a key advocate for Cloud Operations while contributing to strategic initiatives that drive innovation and efficiency.

This role demands a strong grasp of cloud environments, exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are essential, coupled with a passion for continuous improvement, security enhancements, and performance optimization.

What You’ll Be Doing As A Part of Our Team
  • Design, implement, and manage secure and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions across AWS, Azure, and other platforms.
  • Monitor system performance and usage to ensure optimal efficiency and availability.
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep.
  • Enforce cloud governance and security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including InfoSec, DBA, DevOps, and Development to support business objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Manage incident response, root cause analysis, and problem resolution for cloud-based systems.
  • Performing system upgrades, patches and security configurations
  • Participate in on-call rotation and collaborate with the teams during off-business hours or weekend planned maintenance, service Go-Lives, cloud migrations, and incidents.
  • Regularly collaborate with the Cyber security and compliance team to understand the newly found risks, plan the fixes and/or mitigation, report on patching progress, and escalate issues and roadblocks.
  • Create and maintain runbooks that outline operational procedures
  • Participate and drive projects to support business initiatives and team goals
What You Should Have to Qualify
  • 3–5+ years of experience managing cloud infrastructure in an enterprise environment.
  • Proficiency in AWS and Azure cloud services (compute, networking, storage, IAM, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience with container platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS/EKS.
  • Experience with scripting and automation (Python, Bash, or PowerShell, Terraform and Cloud formation).
  • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
  • Experience leading and managing large IT projects and rolling out cloud infrastructures
Ideally, You Would Also Have These
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, or NIST.
  • Experience in hybrid cloud environments and migration strategies.
  • AWS Transit Gateway and Direct Connect experience
  • Experience working in a healthcare technology environment and/or in HIPAA or PCI environments is helpful
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of IT service management, relevant industry best practices and standards
  • Good critical thinking, decision-making skills and communication skills, including the ability to be influential and persuasive with stakeholders
  • Superior time management, juggling with priorities and organizational skills
