Job summary

Platinum Technologies is seeking a Cloud Engineer for its Fort Meade, MD location. The role requires an active Secret clearance and extensive experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise cloud solutions in AWS and Azure.

You will lead IaC initiatives, CI/CD, and security compliance across DoD-aligned environments. The ideal candidate holds 12+ years of relevant experience (or 10+ with a Master’s), DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, and hands-on expertise with Terraform, Ansible,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s with 10+ years.
• Active DoD Secret clearance required.
• IAT Level II certification (Security+, CISSP, or equivalent).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, ARM/Bicep, or CloudFormation.
• Strong knowledge of AWS/Azure and cloud security principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud-based infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments.
• Deploy and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using automation tools.
• Support cloud modernization initiatives including migrations of on-premises services to the cloud.
• Troubleshoot Tier 3 cloud infrastructure, networking, IAM, and apps issues.
• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, operations, and architecture teams to align with enterprise standards.
• Contribute to cloud architecture design for scalable, resilient environments.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
• Enforce cloud security best practices and DoD/Federal compliance requirements.
• Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, and cost optimization.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and engineering standards.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and operations staff.

Cloud Engineer

This role is located at Fort Meade, M.D.

Candidate must hold an active Secret clearance.

What You Get To Do.

• Design, implement, and maintain secure cloud-based infrastructure solutions across AWS and Azure environments


• Deploy and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using automation and orchestration tools


• Support enterprise cloud modernization initiatives, including migration of on-premises services and workloads to cloud environments


• Troubleshoot and resolve complex Tier 3 cloud infrastructure, networking, identity, and application issues


• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, operations, and architecture teams to ensure cloud solutions align with enterprise standards and mission requirements


• Contribute to cloud architecture design efforts supporting scalable, resilient, and highly available environments


• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows


• Enforce cloud security best practices and compliance requirements, including alignment with DoD and Federal cybersecurity frameworks


• Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, optimization, and cost efficiency improvements


• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and engineering standards


• Support continuous service improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and user experience across the DES environment


• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and operations personnel as needed

Required Skills.

• Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree


• Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or equivalent)


• Active Secret Clearance


• Industry cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent


• Hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise cloud solutions in AWS and/or Azure environments


• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM/Bicep, or CloudFormation


• Experience implementing automation solutions using tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, Azure Functions, or similar technologies


• Understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM/ICAM) technologies including Azure AD, Okta, CyberArk, or similar platforms


• Strong understanding of networking, virtualization, storage, and cloud security principles


• Familiarity with Federal Government cybersecurity and compliance frameworks including NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA


• Experience supporting production enterprise environments in an operations and maintenance capacity


• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in distributed technical teams


• Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence


• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise migrations or hybrid cloud environments


• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
