Job summary

The JAAW Group is hiring a Cloud Engineer to support secure DoD cloud environments at Hill AFB, UT. You will design, deploy, secure, and optimize cloud infrastructure, leveraging AWS/Azure, IaC, and containerized workloads in a fast-paced Agile team.

You will collaborate with cybersecurity, software, and data teams to deliver mission-critical cloud capabilities while maintaining compliance, documentation, and continuous improvement. On-site work at Hill AFB is required.

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance required prior to onboarding; Top Secret preferred.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• CompTIA Security+ or CISSP, or willingness to obtain after hire.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering/Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, or related environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or other major cloud platforms.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of cloud networking, IAM, security controls, and troubleshooting.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills in an Agile setting.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure for mission-critical DoD workloads.
• Support AWS and/or Azure environments, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, and security controls.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or equivalents.
• Support Kubernetes and Docker-based workloads; participate in CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar.
• Monitor health, troubleshoot incidents, and perform root-cause analysis; assist patching and config mgmt.
• Ensure STIG compliance and vulnerability remediation activities.
• Document configurations, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, infra, software, data, and AI/ML teams in an Agile setting.

About The Role

The JAAW Group LLC, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support secure, mission-critical Department of Defense cloud environments at Hill Air Force Base. This role will support the design, deployment, administration, security, and continuous improvement of cloud and platform infrastructure within a classified Department of Defense environment. The Cloud Engineer will work across cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, platform engineering, DevSecOps, and automation while collaborating with infrastructure, cybersecurity, software development, data, and AI/ML teams to deliver reliable and secure cloud capabilities in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, administer, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical government workloads.
• Support AWS and/or Microsoft Azure environments, including compute, storage, networking, identity, access, and security controls.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies.
• Support Kubernetes and containerized workloads, including Docker-based environments.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and DevSecOps processes.
• Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
• Monitor infrastructure health, troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and support patching and configuration management.
• Implement and maintain security controls, STIG compliance checks, and vulnerability remediation activities.
• Support cloud-based compute environments, including GPU-enabled or high-performance workloads as required.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, software development, data engineering, and AI/ML teams on cloud and platform requirements.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, infrastructure configurations, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Participate in Agile delivery activities, including sprints, standups, retrospectives, and continuous process improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance required prior to onboarding; Top Secret preferred.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification, or the ability and willingness to obtain one after hire.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field; relevant certifications and professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience supporting cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevOps, systems infrastructure, or a related technical environment.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or another major cloud platform.
• Experience with at least one scripting or automation language, such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Working knowledge of cloud networking, identity and access management, security controls, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an Agile, fast-paced, mission-focused environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing or supporting ISSO and/or ISSM responsibilities.
• Prior experience supporting DoD or federal government environments.
• Experience with AWS GovCloud and/or Microsoft Azure Government.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization, and/or CI/CD/DevSecOps technologies.
• Experience with RMF, NIST, STIG compliance, vulnerability management, or other DoD cybersecurity requirements.
• Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure, high-performance computing, or GPU-enabled cloud environments.
