Job summary
Canonical is hiring a Software Engineer to work on Linux, cloud infrastructure, pipelines, and automation. You will collaborate with major cloud partners to advance Ubuntu in the cloud, split time between build system development and cloud feature implementation, and help automate delivery across servers, GPUs, VMs, and containers.
You will join a globally distributed team, contribute to open source, and engage with partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM or similar degree.
- Experience with public clouds and cloud-native environments.
- Experience with at least 3 of the listed areas (containers, devops automation, open source, APIs, Linux administration, Python packaging, cloud apps).
- Proficiency in Python development on Linux.
Responsibilities
- Build automated, reliable image delivery and publication pipelines.
- Design and integrate features into Ubuntu for public cloud users.
- Collaborate with a distributed team across geographies.
- Write high quality code for new features.
- Architect complex systems and cloud integrations.
- Debug issues and deliver robust code.
- Review peers and participate in design discussions.
- Work from home with 2–4 weeks of travel for events.
- Engage with Canonical teams and open source communities.
