Description

The Leidos Hosting Services Cloud team within the Office of the Chief Information Officer, and reporting through the Digital Modernization sector, is seeking a Cloud DevOps Administrator to design, automate, and optimize cloud operations. This role is ideal for a strong individual contributor with hands-on experience in Cloud administration, automation (Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Custodian) and application integration. You will collaborate with Cloud Engineers to reduce manual effort, increase delivery speed and ensure reliable, secure and efficient operations across our enterprise cloud platforms.

Location: This position allows for full time telework from any U.S. based location.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Terraform code and automation pipelines (GitLab/GitHub CI/CD) to enforce consistency and reduce manual work.
  • Contribute to continuous integration and deployment pipelines, ensuring repeatable and secure delivery of infrastructure and applications.
  • Assist with host-level tasks (patching, configuration, performance checks) across Linux and Windows servers - not full OS administration, but enough to keep systems healthy and integrated.
  • Monitor system performance, remediate vulnerabilities, apply patches, and implement backup/recovery solutions.
  • Partner with Cloud Engineers to design practical solutions and share best practices. Support junior staff where needed.
  • Document processes, identify areas for automation, and recommend improvements that make operations more efficient.
  • Actively contribute to Agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver on sprint goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 4-8 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 2-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud environments.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Go, Bash, Typescript.
  • Experience with configuration management and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Cloud Custodian.
  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts and practical experience using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • General familiarity with Linux and/or Windows administration (patching, troubleshooting, log review).
  • Experience working within an Agile framework and participating in team-based delivery processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and performance-tuning skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in software or infrastructure development within public or private cloud environments.
  • Experience with remote team collaboration and distributed project execution.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor junior technical staff.

Come break things (in a good way). Then build them smarter.

We're the tech company everyone calls when things get weird. We don't wear capes (they're a safety hazard), but we do solve high-stakes problems with code, caffeine, and a healthy disregard for "how it's always been done."
