Job summary

Floor & Decor is seeking an IT Database Engineer to design, implement, and support relational database platforms in data centers and Azure cloud environments.

The role covers installation, configuration, performance tuning, high availability, backup and recovery, monitoring, and incident response for MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, with participation in an on-call rotation to support mission-critical workloads.

Qualifications

• Experience managing MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL in production environments.
• Experience with data centers and Azure-based databases (IaaS/PaaS).
• Strong performance troubleshooting and query tuning skills.
• Experience with HA/DR, backup/restore strategies, and testing failover procedures.
• Scripting/automation for database operations and integration with tooling.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL in data center and Azure environments.
• Monitor database health, performance, and capacity; define alerts and dashboards.
• Troubleshoot incidents (performance issues, blocking, deadlocks, connectivity).
• Design and test backup and recovery strategies; ensure restore procedures work.
• Implement high availability and disaster recovery (Always On, replication, log shipping).
• Optimize performance via indexing, tuning, and OS/db configuration adjustments.
• Ensure security controls (encryption, auditing) and support dev teams with schema changes.
