Job Description:
Support the CMS Cloud team as a Cloud Data Scientist at GDIT. Responsible for analyzing cost and usage data, modeling, visualization, reporting, and analytics. Contribute to data collection, visualization, and apply statistics, machine learning, and AI to enhance data value, ensuring efficient, effective, and secure cloud operations for CMS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze large data sets to develop data-driven solutions for business challenges.
- Design, implement, test, and maintain ETL, ODBC, and API processes for data ingestion and preparation.
- Perform statistical analysis and generate reports to inform decision-making.
- Communicate findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Access, cleanse, analyze, and visualize data; identify trends across data sets.
- Assist with financial data collection from cloud sources using APIs.
- Perform technical analysis to assess cloud adoption impacts and optimize AWS services.
- Create and update financial dashboards and reports.
- Evaluate cloud requirements and deploy optimization techniques.
- Manage AWS account structures and perform cost analysis using SQL queries.
- Validate and enhance BI dashboards (e.g., QuickSight, PowerBI).
- Participate in special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years experience with cloud operations, especially AWS.
- Strong Python skills (boto3), experience with APIs, SQL, JSON, YAML, CloudWatch, S3, and AWS cost management.
- Knowledge of cloud optimization, data analysis, statistics, and economics.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel; experience with machine learning and AI (AWS SageMaker, Bedrock).
- Effective communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to explain complex data.
- Preferred: AWS Certification, Master’s degree, Azure experience.
Additional Details:
- Remote work, with occasional travel to MD/VA/DC.
- Salary range: $90,100 - $121,900, based on experience and location.
- Work hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm ET, with occasional non-core hours support.
