Job summary

Onward Energy seeks a Data Platform Lead to design, build, and operate ingestion, transformation, and serving pipelines for a cloud-hosted data lakehouse. You will integrate AVEVA PI, Ignition, Maximo, Workday, ISO/market data with a Power BI delivery layer, partnering with Operations, Asset Management, and FP&A to translate business logic into governed data products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS, data engineering, IS, or related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on data engineering building and operating production pipelines and data models.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into well-scoped technical work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with engineers and business stakeholders.
• Experience integrating data from APIs, file feeds, relational DBs, and time-series data.
• Production pipelines built with Python and SQL on Spark/Databricks or similar.
• Experience scheduling, orchestrating, and monitoring data pipelines (Databricks Workflows, Airflow).
• Experience designing and managing Lakehouse/warehouse table structures with incremental merges, schema evolution and partitioning.
• Experience implementing data governance tooling (access controls, lineage, data cataloging); Unity Catalog preferred.
• Working knowledge of core Azure services in a Databricks context.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Operations, Performance Engineering, Asset Management, and others to identify initial data use cases.
• Design, build, and maintain ingestion/transformation pipelines in Databricks ingesting data from AVEVA PI, Ignition, Maximo, Workday, and ISO sources.
• Serve as technical counterpart to external partners, translating requirements into pipeline specs and validating deliverables.
• Own long-term pipeline reliability end-to-end: data availability, quality, monitoring, alerts, and issue resolution.
• Contribute to data governance: ownership models, RBAC for sensitive data, quality standards.
