Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Data Engineer 4 focused on Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering in Plano, TX. This onsite role designs, builds, and supports cloud-first data solutions emphasizing scalability, resilience, security, and efficiency.

You will collaborate with agile teams, mentor data professionals, and own end-to-end data pipelines using Python, Spark, and cloud platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake, with emphasis on data governance and encryption.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related quantitative field.
• At least 4 years of experience in application development.
• At least 2 years of experience in distributed data.
• At least 2 years of experience with SQL.
• At least 2 years of experience with one programming language: Python, Java, or Scala.
• At least 2 years of experience in data pipeline design and development.
• At least 1 year of experience in data modeling and end-to-end data solutions using relational and non-relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies.
• Influence a team of developers, data analysts, and data scientists with experience across ML, distributed microservices, lakehouse architecture, and full-stack systems.
• Use programming languages including Python and Spark, with Databricks and Snowflake as cloud data platforms.
• Stay current on trends in data, mentor data community members, and participate in technology communities.
• Partner with product managers and software engineers to deliver cloud-first data solutions for millions of users.
• Independently design, build, and deliver cloud data solutions with minimal supervision.
• Architect and enforce data engineering design patterns for maintainability and reuse.
• Design and build scalable data pipelines and platforms to handle growing data volumes.
