NJ TRANSIT is seeking an experienced Associate Project Manager to lead cloud migration initiatives and a major data center relocation in Newark. The role sits at the intersection of technology, operations, and delivery, coordinating across AWS, VMware, and legacy systems to improve transportation operations.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in project management, strong communication skills, and familiar with hybrid cloud and infrastructure transitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; PMP certification strongly preferred.
• Seven (7)+ years of project or program management experience, including multi-phase technical projects.
• Experience managing both cloud (AWS preferred) and on‑prem infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments, VMware virtualization, and basic cloud migration approaches.

Responsibilities

• Lead AWS cloud migration initiatives across applications, infrastructure, and data services.
• Oversee data center relocation planning, inventory, mapping of dependencies, and cutover activities.
• Coordinate with network, security, and facilities teams to ensure smooth migrations and downtime planning.
• Maintain program roadmaps, risks, dependencies, and executive reporting.
• Act as a liaison among engineers, operations teams, business units, and external vendors.
