The Cloud Data Architect will focus on the design and architecture for IT modernization and transformation for Chief Technology Officer (CTO) initiatives. This person leads strategic initiatives and work groups, possesses solid technology skills, and has a base understanding of HHS business processes. This position will perform advanced, senior-level technology architecture work in support of HHS CTO projects whose scope is to address HHS-wide technology needs. This position will work closely with the CTO, Deputy CTO, Chief Data Architect Office, Chief Enterprise Architect, portfolio manager, application development teams, business stakeholders and other partners.
They will have to utilize agile development practices and works together with other teams in support of application enhancements. They will act independently or as a member of a workgroup or project team. They are responsible for the quality and on-time delivery of the deliverables. This position will work under minimal direction with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Administration (BA) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Experience: 10+ years of IT experience in global environments, including cloud-based and third-party outsourced components.
5+ years of experience architecting, engineering, or developing enterprise IT solutions in cloud and hybrid environments.
Any employment offer is contingent upon available budgeted funds. The offered salary will be determined in accordance with budgetary limits and the requirements of HHSC Human Resources Manual.
