Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Redmond, WA, is seeking exceptional engineers to join the Open Data Analytics (ODA) engines team.

You will work on high‑performance query engines and table formats (Iceberg, Hudi, Delta), collaborating with open‑source communities and shaping contributions to Spark, Trino, Iceberg, and related projects. You will focus on performance optimizations, stability, security hardening, and features across the engine and data lake codebases, while mentoring peers

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience.
• 1+ years of software development engineer experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large‑scale distributed software applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize core components of query engines and open table formats (Iceberg, Hudi, Delta).
• Design and implement solutions to improve feature capabilities, stability, and security.
• Collaborate with the open-source community and integrate upstream changes.
• Ensure data consistency and durability for large-scale data lake workloads.
• Improve automation and testing capabilities.
• Manage complex deliverables and research projects with deadlines.
• Mentor team members on design techniques and coding best practices.
• Be a point of contact for challenging customer data lake and query engine issues.
