Job summary

WVU Parkersburg invites applications for a Cloud Computing & Automation Instructional Specialist. The 12‑month exempt position will teach cloud computing and automation courses, advise students, and participate in college service.

The role requires strong cloud and automation skills, hands‑on platform experience, and effective use of LMS across multiple instructional modalities. The candidate will teach 21 credit hours per semester and may teach additional courses as needed.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Cloud Computing, CS, IT, Engineering or closely related field or an associate’s with suitable experience.
• Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with automation and IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM).
• Knowledge of virtualization and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Working knowledge of cloud networking, security, IAM, and LMS usage.

Responsibilities

• 21‑credit hour teaching load per semester in cloud computing, automation and related technologies.
• Other college‑level courses may be assigned depending on credentials.
• Teaching assignments may include evenings, weekends, hybrid and/or online instruction.
• Academic advising, committee service, program and course‑level assessment, and program support.
• Effective use of LMS; student recruitment/retention and professional development.
• Participation in college community and use of advanced technology is expected.
