Job summary

Backblaze is seeking a highly analytical, systems-oriented Cluster & Systems Capacity Engineer to drive forecasting and deployment of hardware infrastructure across our global cloud storage platform.

In this role, you will build predictive models, align capacity plans with engineering, and collaborate with multiple teams to ensure scalable, cost-efficient infrastructure that supports service availability and performance.

Qualifications

• 3–6+ years in Site Reliability Engineering or Infrastructure Capacity Planning.
• Experience with large-scale distributed storage systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong data analysis and ability to quantify ideas in financial terms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain capacity demand and deployment forecasts for storage, compute, and network.
• Build predictive models translating demand signals into infrastructure requirements.
• Align capacity plans with system design and scaling initiatives with cross-functional teams.
• Develop forecasting pipelines, tooling, and dashboards for visibility into cluster health.
