Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Cloud Backend Engineer in Jersey City, NJ to design, build, and operate scalable cloud-native services on AWS with Java and Python. The role emphasizes data engineering, Spring Boot, and gRPC APIs within a microservices, containerized environment.

The ideal candidate will implement Terraform-based infrastructure as code, optimize CI/CD, and ensure observability, resiliency, and security across the software lifecycle. Onsite interviews preferred for local candidates.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering.
• Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operations in AWS.
• Proficiency in Java and Python.
• Expertise with data engineering tools and processes including Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Cassandra, and ETL.
• Experience with AWS services: Glue, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, and ECS.
• Experience building services with Spring Boot and gRPC APIs.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, Kubernetes, and containers.
• Advanced understanding of CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within cloud and related domains.

Job Title: Cloud Backend Engineer

Location: Jersey City, NJ

Duration: Contract – 6 months

Pay Range: $75/hr – $80/hr (W2)

Interview Process: Two rounds of technical and coding assessments. Highly prefer onsite interviews with local candidates. Zoom with screen sharing for nonlocal candidates.
