Job summary

SMX is seeking a Cloud Engineer for on-site work in Chantilly, VA, Herndon, VA, or Aurora, CO. Security+ and active TS/SCI CI Poly are required. You will design, deploy, and optimize cloud and network architectures for national defense programs in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You will lead architecture for Windows Server-based IT, work closely with cross-functional teams, and advance automation and IaC using container tech like Docker, OpenShift, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Security+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security or GSEC certifications required.
• TS/SCI CI Polygraph clearance must be active.
• 4+ years in building, deployment, release automation, or orchestration.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and integration of cloud- and network-agnostic architectures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high performance.
• Conduct system assessments, troubleshoot, and propose improvements.
• Prepare diagrams, reports, and technical documentation.
• Design Windows Server-based enterprise IT architectures and management tools.
• Develop workload migration plans with risk assessments.
• Ensure architecture plans align with project goals and timelines.
• Provide oversight during implementation to ensure compliance.
• Advance modern systems engineering practices, automation, and orchestration.
