Job summary

PCI Federal (PCIF) is seeking a Cloud Platform Architect/Engineer to lead design, implementation, security, and operation of enterprise cloud platforms for federal agency clients in the Washington, DC area. • 8+ years designing, implementing, and supporting cloud-based systems and platforms.
• 5+ years in cloud architecture, engineering, or platform administration.
• Experience with federal government systems and programs.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, automated deployments, and modern cloud operating models.
• Knowledge of FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, and ATO environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

Job description

The Cloud Platform Architect/Engineer provides end-to-end leadership for the design, implementation, administration, security, and continuous improvement of enterprise cloud platforms, application hosting environments, and data integration ecosystems for federal agency clients. This role combines cloud architecture responsibilities with hands-on engineering and operations support to ensure scalable, secure, resilient, and high-performing technology environments. The successful candidate will serve as both a technical strategist and hands-on engineer, working closely with application developers, data engineers, security personnel, business stakeholders, and operations teams to support platform modernization, application enhancements, system integrations, and ongoing production operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of cloud-based platforms and application hosting environments.
• Develop and maintain cloud architecture roadmaps, technology standards, and technical design documentation.
• Engineer, deploy, configure, and support cloud infrastructure, platform services, networking components, databases, and supporting technologies.
• Provide day-to-day operational support, system monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, and performance optimization.
• Ensure platform availability, scalability, resilience, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Design and implement secure cloud architectures that comply with organizational and federal cybersecurity requirements.
• Administer identity and access management, encryption services, role-based access controls, and secure data management solutions.
• Collaborate with development and DevSecOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.
• Design, develop, and maintain integrations among applications, databases, APIs, reporting platforms, and external systems.
• Evaluate platform capacity, utilization, and performance trends; recommend and implement infrastructure improvements.
• Support application deployments, environment migrations, system upgrades, patch management, and release activities.
• Conduct root-cause analysis of production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, operational procedures, environment documentation, and configuration baselines.
• Participate in Agile planning, requirements discussions, testing activities, change control, and deployment reviews.
• Support security assessments, audits, vulnerability remediation, compliance activities, and authorization packages.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on cloud engineering, platform architecture, and modernization best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud-based systems and application platforms.
• Minimum 5 years of experience serving in cloud architecture, cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or platform administration roles.
• Experience supporting federal government systems and programs.
• Experience architecting and maintaining highly available, enterprise-scale cloud environments.
• Experience supporting web applications, data platforms, analytics environments, and system integrations.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code, automated deployments, and modern cloud operating models.
• Experience with cloud networking, identity management, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization tools.
• Experience supporting API-based integrations, data exchange processes, and enterprise application ecosystems.
• Experience with cloud-hosted reporting, dashboarding, and data analytics environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise portals, customer-facing applications, and integrated data platforms.
• Experience supporting systems operating within FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, and Authority-to-Operate (ATO) environments.
• Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management practices, and secure cloud architecture principles.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, technical documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting lender oversight, financial management, portfolio management, risk management, reporting, analytics, or business intelligence platforms.
• Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent.
• Experience supporting Small Business Administration (SBA) systems, including CAFS, Lender Match, loan servicing, lener oversight, or credit risk management solutions, is highly desirable.
