Job Purpose:

The Cloud Application Architect is responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of cloud-based application frameworks. The role involves integrating infrastructure with various commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications, SaaS platforms, web services, and other external systems. This position ensures that solutions meet technical, security, and compliance requirements while providing leadership and guidance to development and technical teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage enterprise-level application architecture for cloud initiatives.
  • Provide architectural leadership in application development, security, middleware, database design, and integration strategies.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure cohesive application design across multiple platforms.
  • Establish strategic goals to align cloud solutions with development best practices.
  • Create and maintain enterprise and reference architecture models to guide application development.
  • Lead design reviews and participate in defining architectural standards and methodologies.
  • Drive adoption of services-based architecture and microservices approaches.
  • Research emerging technologies and introduce innovative techniques to improve system quality and performance.
  • Ensure cloud solutions are designed with security, compliance, and data governance in mind.
  • Develop policies promoting high-quality, reusable, and standardized designs.
  • Act as the technical SME for cloud solutions, supporting developers and database administrators.
  • Oversee the design and validation of application components, APIs, and services.
  • Provide support for code libraries, middleware, and service components as needed.
  • Participate in developing testing strategies to ensure architectural compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive architectural documentation and manage version control processes.
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise and guidance during application issues and outages.
  • Collaborate on security assessments and ensure applications adhere to secure coding standards.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture frameworks, tools, and methodologies.
  • Proficient in cloud technologies, especially Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with .NET, ASP.NET (4.8+), .NET 6+, HTML, XML, SQL, SOAP, REST, PowerShell, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and distributed applications.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented design and development.
  • Solid knowledge of relational databases, secure coding practices, web services, and authorization protocols.
  • Familiar with observability tools and distributed tracing techniques.
  • Strong background in using Microsoft Visio, and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation and deliver technical presentations.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to propose practical solutions.
  • Experience working independently on complex tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Competence in overseeing change control processes and architectural reviews.
  • Ability to troubleshoot under pressure and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Familiarity with enterprise security standards in cloud environments.
