A Cloud Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing an organization’s cloud computing strategy. This includes cloud adoption plans, application design, infrastructure architecture, governance, and ongoing optimization. The Cloud Architect ensures that cloud solutions are scalable, secure, cost-efficient, and aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, highly available, and secure cloud architectures
- Develop cloud adoption and migration strategies
- Define governance and pathways for AI adoption and onboarding on existing and new cloud technologies
- Establish governance frameworks and best practices
- Define Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards
- Architect hybrid and multi-cloud solutions
- Ensure security and compliance using zero-trust principles
- Optimize cloud costs through FinOps practices
- Enable CI/CD pipelines and automation
- Create, update, and implement cloud policies and guardrails across all cloud platforms, ensuring alignment with compliance standards and regulatory requirements
- Design and implement cloud identity and access management strategies, including role-based access control, privileged access, federation, and identity governance across cloud platforms
- Lead cloud governance initiatives, including management groups, account/subscription structure, tagging standards, policy enforcement, resource organization, and compliance reporting
- Identify, assess, and manage cloud-related risks, including security, compliance, operational, resiliency, vendor, and cost risks, while defining mitigation strategies and tracking remediation efforts
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies including the adoption of new AI capabilities in multiple cloud platforms and external SaaS offerings
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 8+ years of IT experience with 3–5+ years in cloud roles
- Experience with Azure preferred, AWS, or GCP
- Knowledge of cloud architecture patterns
- Experience with containers and Kubernetes
- Proficiency in IaC tools (Terraform, Bicep, etc.)
- Scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience with CI/CD tools
