Job summary

Miles & Stockbridge seeks an experienced Cloud Architect to lead design, planning, and implementation of the firm’s cloud infrastructure strategy. You will partner with technology teams and business stakeholders to drive modernization, security, and scalable solutions.

The role requires deep cloud expertise, experience with Terraform, AWS CDK, and multi-cloud environments, and a strategic business mindset to align IT with firm objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or software development, including at least five years focused on cloud architecture.
  • Deep expertise in at least one major cloud platform, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, with working knowledge of multi-cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or Pulumi.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including virtual networks, VPNs, DNS, content delivery networks, load balancing, and firewall configurations.
  • Experience implementing cloud security controls, identity and access management, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Establish cloud governance standards, policies, and best practices for security and compliance.
  • Lead cloud migration initiatives, planning and executing workloads from legacy on‑premises environments.
  • Partner with DevOps, security, and network teams to integrate cloud-native technologies into the software lifecycle.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud services and provide recommendations aligned with business goals.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide leadership on cloud design and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or Pulumi.
  • Monitor cloud utilization and spend; identify cost and performance optimization opportunities.
  • Serve as SME and escalation resource for complex cloud infrastructure challenges.
  • Stay current on industry trends and cloud innovations.

Miles & Stockbridge is seeking a Cloud Architect to join our Information Technology team. This role will lead the design, planning, and implementation of the firm's cloud infrastructure strategy while ensuring cloud environments remain secure, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement, and maintain scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud architectures across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Establish cloud governance standards, policies, and best practices that promote security, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Lead cloud migration initiatives, including the assessment, planning, and execution of workloads transitioning from legacy and on-premises environments.
  • Partner with DevOps, security, and network teams to incorporate cloud-native technologies and practices into the software development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud services, tools, and technologies and provide recommendations that support business and technical objectives.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical leadership on cloud design, implementation, and optimization initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions using platforms such as Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or Pulumi.
  • Monitor cloud utilization and spending, identifying opportunities to optimize performance and maximize return on investment.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation resource for complex cloud infrastructure challenges and strategic technology decisions.

  • Experience working in highly regulated environments with compliance and audit requirements.
  • Demonstrated success mentoring technical teams and providing architectural leadership.

The pay range for this position is $160,000 – 185,000. The pay range provided is in compliance with state, city, or local employment laws and applies to this location only. Actual pay for this position will be determined based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, current market data, and business needs.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to push, pull, lift, and move up to 25 pounds. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
