Aretum is seeking an experienced Cloud Application Engineer to support the design, administration, modernization, and continuous improvement of enterprise cloud platforms and application environments. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years supporting cloud infra and enterprise apps.
• Strong AWS and/or Azure administration experience in federal or enterprise settings.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and DB tuning.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code solutions (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).
• Experience administering Jira and Confluence.
• Working knowledge of DevOps and DevSecOps practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain federal background suitability.

Aretum is seeking an experienced Cloud Application Engineer to support the design, administration, modernization, and continuous improvement of enterprise cloud platforms and application environments. This role will provide hands-on engineering and operational support across AWS, Microsoft Azure, cloud-hosted developer workspaces, enterprise applications, databases, and DevSecOps initiatives.

The ideal candidate combines strong cloud infrastructure expertise with application administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security experience and is comfortable supporting mission-critical systems in a fast-paced federal environment.

Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
• Manage cloud-based development and end-user computing environments, including Amazon WorkSpaces and Microsoft Windows 365 Cloud PCs.
• Provision and manage users, access controls, security policies, permissions, and cloud resources.
• Support cloud migrations, platform modernization initiatives, and ongoing cloud optimization efforts.
• Monitor the availability, performance, security, and reliability of cloud services and infrastructure.
• Support the deployment, integration, administration, and maintenance of enterprise applications.
• Administer Atlassian Jira and Confluence environments, including workflows, permissions, dashboards, and project spaces.
• Integrate cloud services and enterprise applications with Microsoft 365 and third-party platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, infrastructure, and cloud-related issues across multiple environments.
• Administer Microsoft SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and ongoing maintenance.
• Monitor database performance and implement tuning and optimization improvements.
• Design and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Implement database security, access, and compliance controls.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using technologies such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and AWS CDK.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated application and infrastructure deployment processes.
• Implement DevSecOps practices throughout the software development and deployment lifecycle.
• Develop scripts and automation to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
• Support vulnerability remediation, cybersecurity assessments, and compliance activities.
• Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem resolution activities.
• Maintain system documentation, architecture artifacts, technical procedures, and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with technical teams, stakeholders, and customers to support secure and reliable enterprise cloud environments.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Five (5) or more years of experience supporting cloud infrastructure and enterprise applications.
• Demonstrated experience administering AWS and/or Microsoft Azure environments.
• Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience managing Amazon WorkSpaces and/or Microsoft Windows 365 Cloud PCs.
• Experience implementing or supporting Infrastructure-as-Code solutions.
• Experience administering Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
• Working knowledge of DevOps and DevSecOps methodologies and practices.
• Experience troubleshooting complex cloud, application, infrastructure, and integration issues.
• Understanding of cloud security, access management, vulnerability remediation, and operational security practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any federal background investigation, suitability, or access requirements associated with the position.

• Experience supporting federal government or federal contractor environments.
• Experience with Docker and containerized workloads.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud security and compliance frameworks.
• Experience integrating Microsoft 365 services with cloud applications and platforms.

Travel Requirements

Travel may be required based on client and project needs. This position operates in a hybrid environment with a combination of remote and onsite support in the Washington, DC area.

• Salary Range: $100,000-$145,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including education, experience, qualifications, skills, and applicable contract requirements.
