Job Summary

Aretum is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Technical Lead / Solutions Architect. As a Technical Lead / Solutions Architect, you will own end-to-end architecture, integration strategy, and alignment with VA enterprise standards. Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Define VAEC-aligned architecture (networking, containers, integration, security zones)
• Lead integration across VistA, Cerner, CDW, and APIs
• Oversee data flow design, system boundaries, and interoperability patterns
• Guide ATO boundary definition and control inheritance strategy
• Provide technical leadership across all engineers

• Cloud Architecture{{:}} AWS (VPC, ECS/EKS, IAM, ELB, CloudWatch), multi-account strategy
• Containerization{{:}} Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift fundamentals
• Healthcare Interoperability{{:}} FHIR R4, CDS Hooks, SMART on FHIR, HL7 awareness
• Enterprise Integration Patterns{{:}} API gateway design, event-driven architecture, batch vs real-time tradeoffs
• Data Architecture{{:}} Data flow modeling, schema design, data lineage, normalization strategies
• Security Architecture{{:}} Zero Trust concepts, network segmentation, encryption strategies, RBAC

  Travel Requirements

  This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.
