St. Vincent de Paul - Indianapolis is seeking a Clothing Sorter in Indianapolis, IN to organize donated clothing, linens, and accessories for resale and outreach programs. The role emphasizes attention to detail and a strong work ethic with an eye for designer brands and retro finds.
You will support two Mission 27 Resale sites and assist volunteers in a fast-paced environment. The position involves inspecting items, sorting by category, stocking floors, and aiding customers and clients.
This position is responsible for sorting the clothing and linens donations to St. Vincent de Paul. The clothing is sorted to help supply our two Mission 27 Resale thrift stores as well as clothing vouchers for families in need and our unsheltered outreach services. This position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and an eye for designer brands and unique retro finds. This is a fun and very important position that drives the essential community work of St. Vincent de Paul. This position is 24 hours/week @ $13.00/hour

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push and/or pull and talk or hear. The required weight lifted or force exerted is frequently up to 50 pounds. Special vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be frequently exposed to extreme cold and heat (non-weather), and occasionally exposed to high, precarious place, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The typical noise level in the environment is moderate.
It’s helpful to have a good, general knowledge of how old something is, how it’s used, what it’s for, and what its value is. Also, knowledge of popular name brands of clothing, accessories, collectibles, etc. Must be capable of moving stock around and keeping a neat and organized work area. Very physical job with lots of bending as well as standing for long periods of time. Must be able to work at a fast pace making quick and accurate decisions.
