Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) invites engineers to join the Closures Engineering Design team as a Closures Mechanism Engineer, supporting front and rear closure mechanisms and mechatronic parts for North American vehicles.

You will design release duties, create 3D data and 2D drawings in CATIA V5, estimate costs and mass targets, resolve quality and assembly issues, and collaborate across design, engineering, and manufacturing to advance vehicle programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 0-7 years of professional experience in closure mechanisms.
• Proficiency in CAD/3D design software.
• CATIA V5 experience preferred; CATIA V5 training provided in-house.
• Familiarity with datum schemes and dimensional tolerance.

Responsibilities

• Perform design-releasing duties for North American-based vehicle projects and manage BOMs.
• Create and modify 3D data and 2D drawings via CATIA V5 and other engineering tools.
• Estimate and create cost/mass targets for components/parts.
• Investigate quality, assembly obstacles, and durability issues; suggest improvements.
• Support and interface with other engineering and design functions concerning vehicle development.
• Review part/system performance and regulatory testing.
• Participate in benchmarking activities for future product development opportunities.
• Liaise between North American affiliates and Korean headquarters.
• Recommend engineering improvements on field claims and customer feedback.
• Study and interpret industry regulatory requirements and performance standards.
• Support advanced development of closure mechanism systems for future vehicles.
• Learn best practices and project management from senior engineers.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in closures mechanism and mechatronic parts.
• Travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is looking for an engineer to join the Mechanisms and Sealing Team of Closures Engineering Design

The Team:

The Position:

The Closures Mechanism Engineer would support design, development, and release efforts concerning front and rear closures mechanism and mechatronic parts and systems (e.g., hood, trunk lid, manual mechanisms, power mechanisms, etc.) for Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia NA vehicles

What You Will Do:

• Perform design-releasing duties for North American-based vehicle projects and manage BOMs
• Create and modify 3D data and 2D drawings viaCATIA V5 and other engineering tools
• Estimate and create cost/mass targets for components/parts
• Investigate quality, assembly obstacles, and durability issues, and suggest engineering improvements to mitigate future issues
• Support and interface with other engineering and design functions concerning vehicle development efforts
• Review part/system performance and regulatory testing
• Participate in benchmarking activities for future product development opportunities
• Liaise between North American affiliates and Korean headquarters
• Recommend engineering improvements on assessed field claims, customer feedback, and other sources of vehicle feedback
• Study and interpret industry regulatory requirements and performance standards
• Support the advanced development of closure mechanism systems and components for future vehicles
• Learn best practices, design requirements, and how to manage projects from senior engineers
• Remain current with emerging technologies and trends of closures mechanism and mechatronic parts and systems
• Travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally

What You Will Bring to the Role:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
• 0-7 years of professional experience in closure mechanisms
• Adept at using CAD and 3D design software
  • CATIA V5 experience highly preferred, but not required
    • CATIA V5 training will be provided in-house
• Familiarity with part and assembly Datum schemes and dimensional tolerance application
• Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proficiency in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • An ability to prepare reports/spreadsheets (when needed) to support project-related work
• Excellenttime management, self-management, and organization skills
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to diagnose complex issues (e.g., failure analysis) and develop robust solutions under tight timelines and in cooperation with adjacent teams
• Willingness to attend training sessions, workshops, or conferences to enhance skills and knowledge
• Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
