Where Good People Build Great Careers

Every successful real estate closing depends on a knowledgeable professional who can bring people, documents, and deadlines together with accuracy and confidence. As a Closing Agent, you'll guide buyers, sellers, lenders, and real estate agents through one of the most important steps of the transaction while helping ensure every closing is completed smoothly and professionally.

At American Abstract Title you'll join a collaborative team that values expertise, integrity, and exceptional customer service. Whether you're an experienced Closing Agent or looking to continue building your career in the title industry, you'll find opportunities to expand your knowledge, take on new challenges, and build a long‑term career within the Knox-Title Family of Companies.

We're proud of the culture we've built—one that values teamwork over ego, quality over shortcuts, and people over process. If you're detail‑oriented, dependable, and committed to delivering exceptional service, we'd love to meet you.

As an Escrow Officer or Closing Agent, you'll coordinate residential and commercial real estate closings from preparation through completion. Working closely with Title Agents and escrow, you'll review closing documents, coordinate transaction details, facilitate closings, and help ensure every transaction is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable requirements.

  • Receive and deposit escrow funds into established accounts and disburse funds from each account.
  • Review closing documents, including but not limited to real estate contracts, lender closing instructions, and title insurance commitments, to determine the accuracy of information and identify the need for additional documentation.
  • Contact courthouse personnel, buyers, sellers, lenders, REALTORS®, attorneys, and other transaction parties to obtain additional information as needed.
  • Calculate prorated balances for mortgages, property taxes, and hazard insurance premiums as of the closing date, and record those balances on the closing statement to provide a financial accounting of the real estate transaction.
  • Review contracts between buyers and sellers.
  • Compile figures to determine the final closing costs of each transaction, including loan, title, appraisal, recording, and other applicable fees.
  • Schedule closing appointments and answer questions regarding the closing process and procedures.
  • Conduct closings, obtain required signatures, and notarize documents as needed to facilitate the transfer of property ownership.
  • Review executed documents to ensure they comply with company policies, applicable regulations, and recording requirements.
  • Distribute completed documents to the appropriate parties to complete the transfer of property ownership.
  • Complete documentation necessary to facilitate each closing transaction.
  • May prepare work assignments and closing schedules to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • May compile statistical reports and maintain daily logs of closing activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

The duties and responsibilities described above are representative of the position and are not intended to be an exhaustive list. Responsibilities may change based on business needs.

Note: This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.
