Job summary

The Orthopaedic Center, an affiliate of Huntsville Hospital, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join DOC Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. You will work directly with board-certified orthopedic physicians, providing surgical first assist, patient evaluations, education, and injections.

Alabama licensure required; strong orthopaedics background preferred. Ideal candidate is CRNP/FNP certified, with 3+ years orthopaedic experience, excels in communication, decision making, and collaboration within

Qualifications

• HS/GED required for the role.
• CRNP/FNP certification required.
• Three years of orthopaedic experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced ortho setting.
• Strong communication and collaboration with the orthopedic surgeon and team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Surgical First Assistant.
• Rounding and office/clinic patient evaluations and education.
• Administer therapeutic injections.
• Refer to diagnostic tests and interpret imaging results (X-ray, CT, MRI).
• Review labs, cast and splint patients as needed.
• Write prescriptions and perform dictation as required.

Job description

The Orthopaedic Center, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nurse Practitioner for DOC Orthopaedics and Sports medicine, an affiliate of HH-TOC. They will work directly with one of DOC's established, board-certified orthopedic Physicians. Candidate must be licensed to practice in Alabama. Primary duties include: Surgical First Assist, rounding, office/clinical patient evaluations and education, give therapeutic injections, refer to diagnostic treatment/tests, evaluate x-ray, CT, and MRI, review lab results, casting and splinting, write scripts, and dictation.

Qualifications

Education required: HS/GED

License: Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner with First Assist

Additional Skills/Abilities

• Must be CRNP/FNP certified
• Three years previous orthopaedic experience required
• Highly self-motivated and driven with a strong work ethic
• Able to work independently
• Confident in making clinical decisions and managing patient care
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with the orthopedic surgeon and healthcare team
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities
• Experience or interest in sports medicine and orthopaedics is a plus but not mandatory
• Desire for continued learning
• Compassionate and patient-centered with good interpersonal skills
